The monument of granite and limestone – the work of Éva Varga – was inaugurated in 1996 and evokes the settling of the Hungarians by applying the motives of ancient Hungarian culture.

Mindszent Church

Mindszent Church

The compelling baroque church of excellent proportions was built between 1728 and 1743; the completion of its towers took more than a century, they were finished in 1864. Its rich gold-plated, richly carved furnishing originates from the 18th century.

Minorite Church

Minorite Church

Master Carlone from Eger built the church at first (1729-1734) out of the glorious baroque monument complex of the grey friars.  The founder of the Minorite Monastery, Kelemen Didák was entombed here.

Minorite Monastery

Minorite Monastery

The baroque style Minorite monastery was constructed between 1729 and 1734 by Master Carlone from Eger. The baroque furnishings of the refectory were built between 1773 and 1775; the carved oak wood cover also dates back from the second half of the 18th century. A part of the building functions today as a church college.

Molnár (Miller) Rock

The most famous of the Hámor limestone rocks is the Molnár (Miller) Rock. Not only because visitors can enjoy a gorgeous view to Lillafüred, but also a sad legend is connected to it. A hiking trail from the Csanyik Valley leads to the rock.

Music Palace

Music Palace

The music school of the city was erected between 1926 and 1927 on basis of the designs of Gyula Wälder. The concert hall established therein safeguards also today its magnificent frescos and gilded stuccos.

National Theatre of Miskolc

National Theatre of Miskolc

The late classicistic theatre enriched with romantic elements was erected between 1847 and 1857; its tower was completed in 1884. The predecessor of the building was the first stone theatre of the today’s Hungary playing in Hungarian language.

One-time spital

The building was erected by the Lutheran Germans settled in Miskolc about 1750-1760 for educational purposes. The originally baroque school was rebuilt during the 19th century, when its appearance was converted to eclectic style.
